Company Overview
The Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) is a non-profit organisation established in 1955. Funded by motor insurers through an annual levy, it compensates victims injured by uninsured or unidentified vehicles, as well as victims of insolvent motor insurers. MIBI also acts as Ireland’s Green Card Bureau, enabling Irish vehicles to travel across 48 countries without needing separate insurance at each border, and handles claims involving foreign vehicles. Additionally, it operates the Motor Insurance Information Centre of Ireland. Its purpose is to promote fair compensation and reduce uninsured driving by aiding enforcement through data, innovation, public education and stakeholder engagement.
